Bhukhala, India, March 20 (Jiji Press) -- Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp. has unveiled to the media its second biogas plant in India, which processes cow dung to produce methane for compressed natural gas vehicles.
The plant, located in Bhukhala, Gujarat, was showcased on Thursday. It ferments cow dung collected from local farmers to extract methane, which is then sold at an attached filling station.
Biogas produced from cow dung is considered a carbon-neutral fuel and helps increase farmers' incomes.
The plant was constructed as part of a demonstration project led by Suzuki, primarily in cooperation with a local dairy industry association.
Since opening in January, the facility processes 100 tons of cow dung daily and produces approximately 1.5 tons of biogas each day.
