Thunderstorms Could Bring Golf Ball-Sized Hail to Indianapolis Tonight

Indianapolis may experience hail up to two inches in diameter on the evening of March 22, according to the National Weather Service, as storms move across Central Indiana.

A stretch of warm and sunny weather will be interrupted late Sunday when a line of storms, expected to form north of Interstate 70, begins moving southeast. Thunderstorms are likely to start at 7 p.m. and continue until midnight.

The National Weather Service forecasts a 15-29% chance of severe hail, with hailstones potentially reaching two inches in size — between the size of a golf ball and a pool ball.
