Former FBI Director James Comey has been subpoenaed in connection with a broad investigation led by a Trump-appointed federal prosecutor in Florida, two sources familiar with the matter told NBC News on Thursday.
The investigation centers on an earlier probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and other cases related to President Donald Trump. It is being conducted by Jason A. Reding QuiƱones, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. Trump allies have referred to the extensive inquiry as a āgrand conspiracyā investigation.
An attorney for Comey did not immediately comment, and QuiƱonesā office has not yet responded to requests for comment.
